The MyAngola project team focused on contacting the creative forces of Angola in the areas of: painting, sculpting, literature, music, and photography. Although these gifted artists intend to promote their work across the world, it is the drive of the MyAngola project to further assist in expanding their exposure and talents, internationally.
The artists of painting, sculpting, and various craft expressions will be given the opportunity to reveal their works internationally by posting their art on the MyAngola Site. The MyAngola site is bilingual and can be viewed in both English and Portuguese. Sympathetic members, who support the cause, are spread throughout Portugal, Angola, United States, England, and South Africa. Within the next year, there are plans to expand our scope to Canada, Brazil, Mozambique and other parts of the world where Angolan’s, and those sympathetic to our cause, live.
To bring a deeper understanding of works created by specific Angolan painters, an honorary member of MyAngola will present lectures focusing on the depth and breadth of the art creation. This member retains a Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Craft & Design Education from the University of Surrey Roe Hampton, London.
For photographers, the MyAngola site will not only be the means to expose their photographic works, but it will also be a venue to display the soul and essence of the Angolan people, the backdrop and panorama of the land, and the mesmerizing beauty of nature that adorns the country. A program to award photographers, who create exceptional expressions through photographic images, will be organized so that these Angolan photographers can be recognized.
With regard to literature, MyAngola will offer the opportunity to expose talented writers and their works, such as letters written by: Pepetela, Ana Paula Tavares, José Agualusa, Ana Paula Castro, Amélia Veiga, Paulo Seco, and Décio Mateus. MyAngola continues to search for talented Angolan writers, in an effort to give recognition and thus raise the value of Angolan literature.
With respect to Music, MyAngola will promote Angolan music within the Afro-American community, for all those who love the African rhythms. For each singer, an excerpt that represents the music in Angolan form will be available for music appreciation.
